Surely The Law is Spiritual Not Physical?
Surely the law is spiritual not physical because Paul wrote in Romans 7:14
Romans 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
Absolutely. The law is indeed spiritual. The law is indeed binding in its broader principle - in its spirit and its intent. That's what the beatitudes are about. Christ said we commit the sin of adultery even if we consider it seriously.
But that's not up for debate is it. We all accept that don't we?
The question that we do need to ask though is: does that mean there are no physical elements to the law any more ?
Well for example, can you physically go outside and kill someone, as long as you don't hate them and it would be OK with God?
Can you physically commit adultery, as long as you don't lust after another man's wife (or another woman's husband) and it be OK with God?
Can we physically steal from people if we don't spiritually covet anything and it be OK with God?
We don't forget the physical elements of the law just because we also do our best to keep the spiritual intent of the law, because the physical lays a foundation for the spiritual. That doesn't necessarily make the more physical parts of the law redundant does it?
We keep the physical parts of the law and the spiritual purpose of the law too.
So arguably the law is spiritual and physical. Is it not?

If the is Mosaic law really is done away by Galatians, why aren't any significant tensions recorded in the New Testament about it? By comparison, in Acts only one small and predictable change to an "Old Testament" law about the circumcision of gentile proselytes caused massive turmoil in the predominantly Jewish first century church.
